Silverstone 2012 Report

A rain soaked Silverstone greeted spectators as they arrived for the first AMOC race meeting of the year. However, those who had made the journey were to be well rewarded for their commitment. In morning practice for the half dozen races scheduled for later in the day, drivers literally fought to get to grips with the conditions. Although the track had a glistening sheen, visibility was often made opaque from spray kicked up by the cars ahead. Many seasoned competitors relished the challenge as they believed it sorted out the men from the boys (and women from girls!).

AMOC Racing, in many areas, is definitely back to its best - including entertainment, variety and competitiveness - and this promising start augurs well for the rest of the season. Across the Paddock, and even in race control, there were smiles all round. The next meeting, scheduled for a fortnight’s time, could match the fun of Silverstone or perhaps even improve on it, whatever the weather turns out to be. Date for the diary: Saturday 12th May, Oulton Park!
